Oil painting, "Reflections of a Cloudy Day"

"Reflections of a Cloudy Day"
Oil on canvas
9 x 9 inches
Sides are painted and gallery wrapped
$40. shipping $10.
Good Morning,
In the midst of errands and other work, I was able to take a few hours at the easel today and create this little painting. I have a couple of books by Wolf Kahn and I particularly like the way he paints trees. He is also a master with color. When I was in Montauk earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit some galleries that featured his original paintings. They were wonderful.
The books are also good reading for anyone who is interested in what he has to say. Wolf Kahn's America" features his observations about many of the places that he painted. I found it interesting.
Until next time,
Glynis

Oil painting, "Swing"

"Swing"
Oil on canvas
16 x 20 Inches
Sides are painted
Good Morning!
Today I'm off to paint with the sketch club again. I really enjoy the Tuesday painting. It's a great way to get my week moving in the right direction.
I've been painting a lot and have added some new pieces to my website. The above painting is one of them. I invite you to browse the others as well. www.glynisberger.com
Summer is about half over and I've been accomplishing my goals of painting outdoors. Although I haven't been posting as many paintings, I have been creating them. I hope to have more paintings worth posting as the year progresses.
Who knows, maybe there will be something good from my painting today.
Until next time,
Glynis

Good Morning!
First, apologies for the disappearing act. Things got a little out of control around here. Errands, houseguest and I've been working on some larger paintings again. But, I'm back and here's a new driveby painting. I was coming home from Pennsylvania one evening when I saw this yellow piece of sky. It was fascinating.
Today, I'm volunteering at the mill in Millville, VA. I have work in the show and will be spending the afternoon there. If you are in the area, drop in. It's a good show, an interesting place and a lovely drive in the country. If you don't get there today, be sure and come on the weekend and check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis

Good Morning!
I'm on a roll today. 2 days, 2 paintings! I don't know how long I can keep the pace, but I'm trying.
Here's a brief history of this painting: My family is from Arizona. My grandmother was a painter of the southwest. She painted deserts and rocks in a way that people loved. Her paintings were quite popular and today are valuable items of art. When she got old and couldn't get around, I sometimes took photographs for her to paint from. When I went to visit her, I took the camera and we went out on photo excursions. This gave her plenty to work from and I got to see the desert that I hadn't explored as a child.
When my grandmother died, the photos made their way back to me. Once in awhile, I get one out that she didn't get a chance to paint from and I do it. Our styles are different, but she played a major role in my art education. She also knew the name of every desert plant. The Bushy Thing was growing along the Colorado River, near Needles CA. If anyone knows what it's called, drop me a line!
Enjoy,
Glynis

Good Morning,

It's been a few days, but I have indeed been painting. Unfortunately, the subject matter were the walls of my guest bedroom. With that finished, family matters ensued and I am in the custody of grandchildren (NO, I'm not OLD) for a week.

The kids are well behaved, helpful and very artistic. Ages 8 and 10, they're easy, but still time consuming. This was a planned event, so I was prepared. With plenty of paint, canvas panels and various arts and crafts to occupy them, I'm surviving and have managed to complete the above painting. The kids are interested in my blog, so you may see something from them as well.
My respect for the daily painters who actually paint daily grows.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis
