Oil painting on canvas "Barns in July"

"Barns in July"
Oil on canvas
14 x 18 Inches
Sides are painted and gallery wrapped.
Good Morning!
Yes, I was out painting in the 90+ heat. Fortunately Becky and I selected a spot that was right on the edge of a lake and better yet, under a tree. Although it was warm, the breeze off the lake and the shade provided comfort and made for a pleasant day. Plein air painting has some advantages. I'm finally beginning to feel comfortable about some of my outdoor painting choices. Today, I felt like I did it right.
The day was enjoyable although there was a temptation to go for a swim.
These barns were across the lake on another property. Hopefully we will get permission to investigate more closely next year.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis

Good Morning!
This little painting is something I've been playing with for some time. I am working toward a large abstract, based on this scene. I have painted it before and each time it becomes more abstract. I think I'm ready to do the large one.
Yesterday was a busy day. My young artist friend finished her portrait, but we didn't have time to photograph it. I took Winslow for his swim at the Northern VA Swim Center. This is a swimming facility for dogs and horses. Winslow swims there for exercise since he can't run. It's a wonderful drive through the country to Middleburg. I had the opportunity to do a number of driveby photos. The prospects for a paintable one or two look good.
Today, I'm off to paint with my friend Ute. Our first outdoor paintings for this year. Hopefully I'll have something to show for it tomorrow.
Until then,
Glynis
