Volunteering at the Mill

Yesterday, I spent most of the day at the Burwell Morgan Mill, Millwood,VA. My friend Becky and I volunteered to work at the art show since we have paintings in the show. This is a very large exhibit. Artists from all over DC, VA, MD, WVA, show their work. I am always impressed with the way the show is hung. In spite of the huge numbers, every painting is viewable and the show isn't overwhelming.

We spent the day talking to other artists and visitors. I spent a lot of time checking out the show. When we left, we volunteered to deliver a large painting for a buyer nearby who couldn't fit it into his vehicle. The home was lovely and the grounds were worthy of photographing for future paintings. The gentleman was happy to allow us to take our photos and told us a lot about his home and gardens.

It was a really good day but I never picked up a brush.
I highly recommend the show at the mill if you can do it.
Until tomorrow,

Oil painting, "Driveby #6"

"Driveby #6"
Oil on Canvas
9 x 12 Inches
Sides are painted
$50.
Shipping $10.
Good Morning!
First, apologies for the disappearing act. Things got a little out of control around here. Errands, houseguest and I've been working on some larger paintings again. But, I'm back and here's a new driveby painting. I was coming home from Pennsylvania one evening when I saw this yellow piece of sky. It was fascinating.
Today, I'm volunteering at the mill in Millville, VA. I have work in the show and will be spending the afternoon there. If you are in the area, drop in. It's a good show, an interesting place and a lovely drive in the country. If you don't get there today, be sure and come on the weekend and check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis

oil painting, "Pineapple"

Good Morning!

It's the beginning of another manic week at my house. I took some time to paint over the weekend, and managed to finish this painting. It is a larger painting than I like for the blog and it doesn't really qualify as a daily painting since I started it weeks ago. It's 16 x 20 and is available for purchase via my website. I plan to post it later today, so I will add a purchase link here. (I did add it, at the bottom of this post.)

The show at Millville will be opening April 26. I hope you will come out and see the work.
I will be volunteering on April 29 with my good friend and fellow painter, Becky. We'll be there from 12-5. If you have a chance, come out to Millville and visit us. It's a nice drive out in the country. Google "Burwell-Morgan Mill" or call 540-955-2600 for info. Lots of good art.

Until tomorrow,
Glynis

Daily oil painting, "Daffodils"

"Daffodils"
Oil on canvas
Sides painted and gallery wrapped
10 x 10 Inches
SOLD
Good Morning!
It's been a very busy couple of weeks. Travel, running paintings everywhere, framing, more framing. All in all, it's been good and I have been painting in between everything else. Kurt's show is up at 222, the League of Reston Artists show opened today. The Mill show in Millville will open April 26. I hope you will take the time to go and see the really good original art that is being displayed at these venues.
My painting today is of Daffodils. Spring is rapidly passing through. I bought these flowers and before I knew it, they were "overripe". I grabbed a quick painting before they lost their beauty. Please take the time to enjoy spring before it slips away.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis

This painting has been donated to the Greyhound Angel Network auction. The link to bid will be posted shortly. Greyhound Angel Network pays medical bills for greyhounds in need. This is a favorite charity of mine and Winslow's. Please visit their auction and bid on something. It's a good cause and we are proud to donate.

A busy week.

Good Morning!

Although I offer no painting today, I do offer plenty of reasons.

The last week was full of contrasting events. One of my friends died, so I spent some time grieving and traveling to PA for a funeral. In spite of the sadness, I saw many old friends and had the opportunity to reconnect with people I haven't seen for years.

Upon returning, it's crunch time. My teacher and friend Kurt Schwarz has his solo show opening at Gallery 222 in Leesburg VA next week. I build his custom frames, so we have been madly measuring, cutting and building frames for all of his FABULOUS paintings. I was there yesterday and the paintings are amazing! Tomorrow, the show will be hung and the opening will be FRIDAY, APRIL 4. Gallery 222- 222 King St. Leesburg, VA. If you are in the area, please stop in.

I have 2 paintings going into the League of Reston Artists show at Lake Anne. "Embrace Art". Opening Reception is Sunday Apr. 6, 2-4 PM. at the Lake Anne Community Center in Reston. Stop by and check it out. There's always good art at the LRA shows.

I had 5 paintings juried into the Mill Show (Clarke County Historical Assn.) The show will run from Apr.26 to May 11. Again, some really good art at a very cool mill in Millwood VA. The show is huge, prices are good and it's a gorgeous drive.

So, as you can see, I've been very busy with the technical workings of being an artist. After Kurt's show is up, I'll be back to painting daily again.
Thanks for waiting.
Until tomorrow.
