Good Morning,
In the past year or so, southwestern scenes have been creeping into my paintings. Being from Arizona, I think it's a sign that I need to explore, go home, look around, and discover why I seem to be pulled in this direction.
As I drove through Gallup New Mexico yesterday, I passed this scene. I painted it from a photo I took some years ago. It's still there, and still looks the same. I really did need to come west. It's very clear to me now why I need to paint these scenes. Because I have a long way to go, I'm taking more photos, notes and sketches and not painting. I did bring some watercolors with me and maybe I'll take a little time and play with them.
Today, while exploring the Painted Desert, I saw some art that was produced at least a thousand years ago, by the people that were here first. I'll post it tomorrow.
Until then,
Enjoy!
