Acrylic painting on canvas,"We Aren't There Yet" (part of the "Influx" series)

"We Aren't There Yet"
Acrylic on Canvas
34 x 58 Inches
This painting is available at http://www.de-yong.com/
Good Morning,
This is another large acrylic painting from the series "Influx". As you can see, there is type on this painting, something I don't often do. Here's what it says--
"The robber was described as Hispanic or Native American, 5-foot-10,215 to 250 pounds, who breathed heavily while he robbed the store. The robber did not speak with an accent. He ws last seen wearing black shoes, blue jeans, dark hooded sweatshirt, black hat, a dark blue or black bandanna on his face with white designs and dark gloves."
Down below, the text reads:
"Several surveillance cameras caught the robber entering the store, robbing the place and leaving. No camera was able to capture the image of the robber's face, and the robber appears to have been intentionally avoiding all camera locations.
Oct. 24, 2008."
Yes, this account came from a newspaper. Yes, it really did.
Even in this historic time, We aren't there yet.
Until tomorrow.

Oil painting on canvas, "The Farm"

"The Farm"
Oil on canvas
14 x 18 Inches
Sides are painted and gallery wrapped
Sold.

Good Morning,
During the summer, I spent a lot of time painting with the sketch club. I also spent a lot of time making photographs and small studies so that I could paint them later. Even though it didn't feel "productive" to not have a finished painting, I kept all my notes, photos, sketches, etc. knowing I would come back to them after the summer was finished. That seems to be working out for me now. This painting was from a sketch club location. As the weather gets cold, I still get a bit of summer from painting these landscapes.
Enjoy,
Glynis

Oil painting on canvas,"Window #1"

"Window #1"
Oil on canvas
16 x 20 Inches
Sides are painted and gallery wrapped
sold.
Good Morning!
If you have been following my painting (or if you check out my website), you will notice that I have a love of windows. I've always been fascinated with them... either looking in our out. I photographed them for years, built frames out of them and now I seem to enjoy painting them. Somehow windows appear in a lot of my paintings. I'm sure there's a million psychological reasons for this and I could probably delve into the meaning of all of it. It's doubtful that I would do that, for fear of spoiling all the fun...
Until tomorrow.

Oil on canvas,"Storm Coming In"

"Storm Coming In"
Oil on canvas
12 x 16 Inches
sold.
Good Morning,
I was looking at the sky over the weekend and thinking about storms. We have some rather dramatic skies this time of year. Storms can be metaphors for a lot of things. I enjoy watching the colors and movement that happens in an unsettled atmosphere. I love to paint it, but always find it elusive.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis
