Oil painting on canvas,"Echo"
Oil on canvas
16 x 20 inches
Available from www.glynisberger.com
Good Morning,
I've been working on a couple of small paintings this week. This one was particularly interesting because the sky is the majority of the subject matter. Montauk skies can be very dramatic, especially when the storms are moving in from the sea.
I'm going to do a demo today at the Burwell Morgan Mill in Millwood, VA. I'll be there with my friend Becky from 3 to 5 PM. We will be painting something... probably a still life. If you are out that way, stop in and see us. The show is really good and the mill interesting. Also, since the leaves are changing, it's a spectacular drive. I hope you'll come up and see us.
Until next week,
Glynis

Oil painting on canvas, "Hot Feet"
Good Morning,
A few months ago, I posted a picture of my study for "Hot Feet".. There was just something about the color of the shoes and the peppers that really caught my eye. I did a quick study and decided to do a larger painting. Well, my study has a looseness and a quality that I just couldn't get in the larger painting. It seemed so overworked. Like I was trying too hard.
So, I've decided to go ahead and finish the study and keep it. So far, I've added a background and worked on the shoes a bit more. Again, there's a quality that I don't want to destroy, so I haven't done very much to it. I think I'll work on the peppers just a little more before I call it finished.
I'll post it again when it's finally complete.
Until tomorrow.

Acrylic on canvas, "Influx"
Acrylic on Canvas
54 x 56 Inches
Sides are painted and gallery wrapped
This painting is available at www.de-yong.com
Good Morning!
If you haven't noticed by now, I maintain 2 websites. www.glynisberger.com for my more traditional paintings and www.de-yong.com for my abstract work. Yes, I have heard the jokes about multiple personality disorders. I have always thought it better to keep these works equal and separate. Here, on the blog, it all comes together.
This painting is another of my large works that I have been making recently. Acrylic seems to work best for these because they dry faster and allow for more spontaneity. This has become very important to me lately. I don't quite understand why, but I'm going with it. There is something to be said for using appropriate tools for a job.
Today, I'll be painting in oils again. I have some smaller paintings on my mind as well as another large one in the works. I hope you will continue to check in on my journey.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis

oil painting on Canvas "Decisions"
Oil on Canvas
12 x 36 inches
Sides are painted
Available at www.glynisberger.com
Good Morning,
I began this painting some time ago. Now, since my directions are changing a little, it seemed timely to finish it. I don't want to get into lengthy explanations.. that kind of ruins it for everyone.
I've been working on those large abstracts and hope to show another one here, tomorrow. I am having trouble photographing the large paintings because they are hanging on the wall and the lighting is an issue. I've found that it works better at certain times of the day.
This week I'm working on another large piece as well as some smaller ones. I've revisited one of my studies which I'll share later in the week.
The weather has been beautiful here and fall gardening calls.
Until tomorrow,
Glynis
