Good Morning! We had our open studio class today. Our model never arrived, so I volunteered. The above paintings and drawing are from the others in the group. It's interesting to see the differences in all the paintings.
The top painting is by Martha Cammack, renown horse, landscape and portrait artist. She has a studio at Gallery 222 in Leesburg. Her paintings can also be seen at www.marthacammack.com
Check out her website!
The second one is a drawing by Liz Carlson. I must say it really looks like me. In case you are wondering "what's up with the hair?" I've started wearing "dreadlocks" recently. I think all the painters dealt with my new style really well.
The third painting is by Rick Steinberger. If you have ever been to an art show in Northern VA, you have certainly seen Rick's work. He's well known for the very large faces that he paints. They are amazing! Rick has a studio at Gallery 222 and is doing sculpture as well. If you are in Leesburg, stop in.. he always has something going on. There is nothing on his website, www.ricksteinberger.com but you should keep the address. When he gets to it, I'm sure it will be interesting.
The last image is my my friend who wishes to remain anonymous. I really like her paintings and and hope that she also can see how good they are. Some of her figures are really stunning and her landscape and still life paintings are also very good. Recently, Ms. Anon had 2 of her paintings juried into the Mill Show in Millville VA. I'm hoping that she will one day decide to do a website or at least a blog and share her paintings with the public on a wider scale.
So, I didn't paint today, but we had a good time and there is a lot to be learned by studying the work of others.
Until next time,
Glynis
